Finance Manager

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our finance team as Finance Manager. Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll have responsibility for our finance processes and reporting.

We’re looking for an experienced professional who can demonstrate a proven track record in running a small finance department.

Role Summary

  • The primary role of the Finance Manager is to ensure the smooth running of the finance processes across the business.
  • This role focuses on producing monthly management accounts, annual financial statements and weekly cashflow updates.
  • The role will also focus on strengthening processes, driving continuous improvement and the implementation of new systems.
  • Some transactional duties will also be included such as invoicing, VAT returns and bank reconciliations.
  • This role would ideally suit a part-time employee looking to work 3-4 days a week in a Leeds city centre based office.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Role

Month end processes

  • Preparation of the management accounts (using Xero and Fathom).
  • An intelligent appraisal of the monthly performance with recommendations made regarding areas of concern or where additional investment may be required.
  • Ensuring all client invoices are raised, supplier invoices are processed and the bank and credit card are fully reconciled on a timely basis.
  • Completing all balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring the balance sheet integrity.
  • Submission of quarterly VAT return.
  • Review of payroll, pension and HMRC submissions.
  • Credit control, ensuring as many invoices as possible are paid on time, with overdue amounts being flagged to the client services team.
  • Adopting new processes or technology as needed to improve the processes and increase efficiency.

Forecasting

  • Working with client services teams across the business to ensure revenue forecasts are up to date and as accurate as possible.
  • Providing a weekly update to the board of the revenue forecast and flagging any areas of concern.
  • Preparing a weekly cashflow forecast, making sure this is as accurate as possible and sharing with the board along with any recommendations or areas of concern.

Other

  • Assisting the rest of the business with adhoc financial reports as and when required.
  • Preparing the draft financial statements and supporting information for review by external accountants.

Skills required for the Role

  • ACCA qualified
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Organised and process driven with a good eye for detail
  • Experience in a service-based business preferrable but not essential
  • Xero experience preferrable but training can be given
  • Excited about the opportunities that AI will offer for improvements in finance systems and processes
