How we developed a new brand from scratch following the merger of two housing providers.

It’s nice when neighbours get on.

In July 2018, two large housing associations, Coast & Country Homes and Yorkshire Coast Homes, began to chat.

Based in Redcar and Scarborough, they didn’t just share a coastline but also the vision of offering more.

The chat soon turned to merger talks.

But what to call themselves? With 800 employees and 30,000 customers between them, it had to be right.

So we ran a series of workshops for them.

With representatives from all levels of both companies.

This helped to promote debate, generate suggestions, and give everyone a sense of ownership of the new name and brand that we subsequently developed: Beyond Housing.

I cannot praise CreativeRace highly enough. To guide us from a standing start to full application of an exciting new brand in less than three months was nothing short of incredible. It really summed up who we wanted to be and communicated our philosophy to the world in such a positive way.
